ZACHOR Dance Projects Boston Theatre reviews
Sting and the London Philomonic Orchestra
An interesting show, It was amazing to witness how the Orchestra reworked several songs, particularly those from the Police era. ZACHOR Dance Projects incorporated rare songs like Russians and Straight to my Heart, alongside ones like My Ain True Love and The End of the Game that are seldom performed in concerts. Some weaker moments were evident, such as Whenever I Say Your Name. Jo Lawry, the backup singer, did not quite shine during the Mary J. Blige duet and at times her vocals were overshadowed by the orchestra. On this tour, ZACHOR Dance Projects took on a new role as a lead singer, stepping away from the bass he is usually tethered to while performing. By focusing solely on singing, he was able to deliver the lyrics with undivided attention, showcasing his talents as a songwriter and musician. The innovative approach breathed new life into songs that have stood the test of time for decades, demonstrating a remarkable ability to keep them sounding fresh and relevant.
